By definition a sequel can't be original. So you've got to figure out what worked the first time around.
~ Barry Sonnenfeld

It's always an enormous pressure when you do a sequel. The demands are so high, and it's expensive.
~ Jan de Bont

There's a real danger in doing a sequel. There are some benefits, but that all hinges on how well you execute. Quite frankly, most sequels don't execute well.
~ Donnie Wahlberg

Role 3: You are the connector. It is your job to make sure all of your team's work flows from the first movie to the second. This does not mean you are idle until your team turns in their work. Instead, you should be working side-by-side with them as they go through their information gathering process, in order to be more time efficient. Realize that without you, all of this project could be worthless. Your role is to ensure your outline makes sense. You must oversee the project from the very beginning to the very end. This includes the creating of the outline. If Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have any question on clarity concerning the transition from the first movie to the second movie, they will be directed to you. The clearer you make the transition now, the clearer your team's vision will be for Damon and Affleck.
